Leaf & Beam is a blog about home building and gardening. For over 15 years I’ve written the website Growing the Home Garden and I’ve been a real estate agent since 2015. I’ve worked on gardens and I’ve worked with home buyers, sellers, and builders. Leaf & Beam is a mix of everything as it relates to my family’s experiences. We’re building a custom home on 7 acres of land in Middle TN!
We have a lot of ideas for the property and the home and I felt that detailing our personal experiences didn’t quite fit on either Growing The Home Garden or my real estate website. GHTH is about tips and ideas for vegetable gardens and plant propagation. Leaf & Beam will be a bit different. It’s more about the overall aspects of developing our property to fit our family’s needs. L&B will a mix of landscaping, gardening, and home building posts all from our personal experiences.
We bought our 7 acre property back in August of 2017 but it’s taken us a long time to be ready to actually build the home. It takes a lot of work to save enough money to build what you hope to be your forever home. We have a family of 7 and we needed the home design to be large enough for us in order for our kids to always have a place to come home to.
As updates happen on our property we’ll post and share what we did and why we did it the way we did. That way I can share the two things I am most passionate about, gardening and homes.
