One of the most beautiful trees on the property is this giant sycamore tree (Platanus occidentalis). The giant green leaves of summer eventually turn yellow and brown revealing this gorgeous fall tree. In the winter the leaves drop revealing the amazing white mottled bark. It truly is an amazing tree and well worth planting in your yard if you have the space.
If you want to grow a sycamore tree you will need space as they get extremely large. The sycamore on our property could be 50-60 ft tall and around. They grow 70 to 100 ft tall and can be of similar width. To me they are a 4 season tree to enjoy. In the spring and the summer the canopy of leaves create an amazing amount of shade and in the fall and winter the bark color is an amazing feature.
The sycamore tree is toward the center of the picture and is about halfway up our extremely long driveway.
